For the first six weeks of school, many of you will dive into building a collaborative classroom community by following the principles of Responsive Classroom.

Creating your Hopes and Dreams is an essential first step in this work. Once you have established these, you are ready to make your classroom rules!
According to Responsive Classroom, "Inviting students to name learning goals (hopes and dreams) right away shows them that school is a safe place, that they’re important members of the classroom, and that they can look forward to an engaging, challenging, and fun year of learning. Establishing this classroom tone is one of the most important things to do at the beginning of the year."

This banner bunting package will allow you to highlight  Hopes and Dreams for your class, while adding to your classroom decor or theme! There are 17 colored sets to choose from!!

You can also incorporate individual students' goals into a bulletin board display!

You will find multiple versions of prompts on the student flags, which can be strung together below the main banner:
  • Blank--for drawing a picture or symbols
  • This year, I hope...
  • This year, I'm looking forward to...and I'm a little worried about...
  • My goals for this year are...
  • My academic goal for this year is... and My social goal for this year is...
